The Terry Pratchett (Good Omens) Project -----------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT 25 JAN 2008
Getting closer and closer, and the collection is GORGEOUS! We've got a fabulous bunch of art that any author would be proud to have! More is better! More more more!
Also, IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING YOU'D LIKE TO SAY ESPECIALLY TO TERRY - your feelings, about the artwork, whatever - send me a note and I can attach it to your artwork. Adds a special touch
I am so excited! When I've finished everything, it will be posted here in the format I'm using. Starting to look like a real book!
For those who don't know already: Terry is dealing with a serious health situation. Then ~CaptainQuirk suggested sending a mass email of Good Omens art and well wishes to Terry Pratchett, and it got me to thinking. After exploring other groups and individuals gathering work for the same purpose, Id like to ask if the members of *goodomens would care to join in a similar project. This event will be largely Good Omens art , though some crossovers from Terry's other works are allowable - just make sure GO characters involved. (There are also other clubs and individuals gathering Discworld art, such as =JesIdres.)
So...
Between now and January 31, 2007, Ill be collecting Good Omens artwork from members of this club to make a group of .pdf scrapbooks to email to Terry.(If I can scrape together the cash, I may get it printed out, but we'll see... If anyone wants to donate to that cause, I won't turn down the cash but I'm not begging for it either. If you do, there's no set amount. Contact me if you do want to.) For this collection, you may designate work youve already done, or draw something completely new, and you may certainly submit more than one thing. Everything you send will be fully credited to you, and I can include any captions or notations for the artwork that you like. Whatever you want to include in this project, send a link of the picture to *goodomens or ~quantum-witch, email the file directly to me at quantum-witch [@] hotmail.com, or just make a comment down below here.
This is entirely voluntary of course, but YOU must directly participate by letting me know what works to use, whether they be old or new. It's not for me to decide by going through the gallery and taking whatever looks good. I NEED YOUR PERMISSION.
Here are some excellent ideas for new artwork: - Scenes from the book itself - Studies of characters - Comical parodies (PG-13 rating, at the most) - General get well wishes REMEMBER: IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ALL BRAND NEW ART! Older work is perfectly fine! You all have fantastic imaginations! Lets try to avoid serious or maudlin sentiments, as Terry himself is being very upbeat about the situation, bless him. One thing to keep in mind Terry has often expressed his appreciation of fan art in general, but he does not really approve of his characters being slashed. Therefore: - NO SLASH
Though it would be very nice, meaningful, and certainly attention-catching to send a huge project from a club that loves his work, its certainly not the only way to go. You can send things on your own, through email or snail mail. Either way, the sentiment will be clear.
Here is the contact information for Terry through his agent (who is very polite Ive already had contact regarding a package I sent myself): Terry Pratchett c/o Colin Smythe Colin Smythe Limited Publishers P.O. Box 6, Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire SL9 8XA England
Colins email is: CPSmythe@aol.com His website is: [link]
EDIT: 4 JAN 2008 Just received an email from Colin Smythe, telling me that my personal package arrived, that he couldn't resist peeking in, and greatly enjoyed the art. I think we'll be much appreciated in everything we send to Terry.
Poor Terry... It's sad, how all the best minds seem to be the ones that get screwed over by something or another. I shall definitely be submitting something.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
